My Harry Potter challenge | Part 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
It's time for part 2 of my Harry Potter challenge! Of course, this one is about the second book and movie: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. If you don't know anything about this challenge yet, please read my first post here before you read this one!
Question Time!
1. What is your favorite scene in the book?
The Duelling Club. I love the tension in that scene and of course, this is where we learn that Harry is a Parselmouth.
2. What is your favorite scene in the movie?
The scene in the Chamber of Secrets with Tom Riddle. Is it just me, or is that scene way more intense in the movie than it felt in the book? Anyway, I loved those moments in the pipes, where Harry is being chased by the Basilisk. It's so creepy.
3. What is your favorite character in this installment?
I remember really loving Hermione in this installment and I still do. In CoS we see her more than we did in the first book/movie and I learnt to love her in this installment. She's smart and unafraid and I love her to bits.
4. What is your least favorite character in this installment?
Gilderoy Lockhart. You already know in the beginning that he isn't who he says he is and that all of his stories just can't be true. And his hunger for media attention is so freaking annoying!
5. Which scene from the book did you miss in the movie version?
I wish that they did the Duelling Club scene in the same that it is told in the book. The movie version just lets Harry and Draco duel, but in the book version, they let everyone practice in pairs. I think it would have made a great scene.
6. Favorite magical object, creature or hobby mentioned in this installment?
The Phoenix! I love Fawkes, he is really cute and he is a great helper to Harry in the Chamber. Can I have one please? ;)
7. What was the saddest scene in the book/movie?
Hermione being called a mudblood by Draco. I felt it was even more intense in the movie, since Hermione was actually tearing up while they were at Hagrid's.
8. What was the happiest scene in the book/movie?
Harry freeing Dobby with the sock. Even though he was kind of annoying, I love Dobby. It was so kind of Harry to free him from the Malfoy's and Lucius was so pissed off, haha!
And done! Those were all the questions again!
If you like this challenge, feel free to do it yourself as well. Don't forget to leave a link in the comments to the page or blog where I can see your answers, because I'd love to see them!
Next up will be Prisoner of Azkaban, my favorite one in the series. I don't know when I will be reading it yet, since school is starting again this week. My TBR pile this month has three HP books on it, so I do expect that it will be soon. :)
Happy reading,
Liz

My Harry Potter challenge | Part 1: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
The Wizarding World will have to wait another year for me to stop by, but the Studio Tour isn't that long of a wait for me anymore, since I will be going in October!
And how does a Harry Potter fan prepare for such a trip? They decide to do a challenge!
My challenge is to read every book again (in English this time, I've only read them in Dutch) and afterwards, I will watch the movie that is based on that installment. But my challenge doesn't stop there, since I will be documenting this challenge by answering some questions on this blog.
To start off, I've read and watched - what else? - Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone!
Question Time!
1. What is your favorite scene in the book?
The first time Harry and Hagrid visit Diagon Alley, because that's when you can really read all about the wizarding life in the series. It shows the brooms, robes, owls, and of course, the magic!
2. What is your favorite scene in the movie?
The arrival at Hogwarts. I will always remember that first shot of the Hogwarts castle when they are in the boats on the lake. It's gorgeous. And then, when we see the Great Hall for the first time, that is another magical moment (I've seen that they kind of recreate this scene at the start of the Studio Tour, how awesome!).
3. What is your favorite character in this installment?
Red hair, a hand-me-down robe... It must be a Weasley! And it is! My favorite is definitely Ron. He's so funny, witty and overall amazing (and Rupert is such a cutie in the movie version haha).
4. What is your least favorite character in this installment?
P-p-professor Quirrell. I don't even need to explain this, do I? (Those snowballs that Fred and George threw at the back of his head were well deserved!).
5. Which scene from the book did you miss in the movie version?
The snowball scene, obviously! ;)
6. Favorite magical object, creature or hobby mentioned in this installment?
Wands! Because without a wand, a wizard can't perform spells. I have one myself, but unfortunately, after trying and trying to get it to work for years, I still haven't done any magic. I guess I must be a real muggle!
7. What was the saddest scene in the book/movie?
One of the first scenes - the one where Dumbledore, McGonagall and Hagrid had to leave baby Harry with the Dursleys. That moment when McGonagall hears that James and Lily are dead... Damn. :(
8. What was the happiest scene in the book/movie?
I really love the Quidditch scenes! Even though Harry almost got killed during the first one (and the only one in the movie), the happiness when he got the Snitch and Gryffindor won was overwhelming.
And done! Those were all the questions!
If you like this challenge, feel free to do it yourself as well. Don't forget to leave a link in the comments to the page or blog where I can see your answers, because I'd love to see them!
I'll be starting in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when I'm finished with the book I'm reading right now (Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor, it's a good one!). When that one is finished, a new post shall appear on this blog as well.
Happy reading,
Liz
